Originally constructed as a bank in the 1970's, the building that stands at the south-east corner of Seventh Avenue and Dolores Street has always stood out in the landscape of Carmel-by-the-Sea. The modernist architecture, once a controversial design for a building in 'charming' Carmel-by-the-Sea, has become a treasured landmark.Under the respectful and dedicated stewardship of property owner, Jeff Peterson, the building was transformed in 2013 into a multi-use event venue. In 2017, Gregory Ahn and his team at the acclaimed Folktale Winery in Carmel Valley, acquired the restaurant and launched Seventh & Dolores Steakhouse, or 7D."We are so excited to bring this beautiful space to life, and to bring our brand of service, fun, and community to Carmel-by-the-Sea. Just as we imagined Folktale to have the spirit of a town square, we imagine 7D as a town hall. This is a gathering place for the community, and we hope that is what makes it special for visitors to Carmel, as well."VP of Hospitality, John Fitzgerald leads the talented front-of-house team with Restaurant Managers/Ninjas, Jamie Morales and Joe Valencia. The passionate and joyful hospitality staff offers world-class service with the warmth of a neighborhood restaurant. Beware the craft cocktail and wine program that will have you contemplating a liquid diet.Executive Chef, Todd Fisher, and Chef de Cuisine, Jeremiah Tydeman, lead a back-of-house team of magicians to create a transcendent culinary experience in their glass-encased kitchen. While the marble Raw Bar and fresh seafood have been awe-inspiring, the showstoppers are the all-natural meats from Niman Ranch, included 28-day dry aged steaks that melt in your mouth, and a burger that has been known to induce actual tears of joy. The sweetest treats come from Pastry Chef, Heidi Saterlee, and her team, who combine creativity and love in every highly addictive dessert.Together, the 7D family has tried to create a new kind of restaurant experience in Carmel. Vibrant, energetic, social and sophisticated, Seventh & Dolores feels both a part of Carmel, and something new.
