Past a wall of pink bougainvillea and stunning wrought iron gates is Mother of Pearl, an oyster & ceviche bar from Michelin-starred chef Joshua Gil that continues the terrace’s festive, Mexican-inspired atmosphere. Designed as a Spanish Colonial gazebo, an intricately curved wrought iron and glass overhang frames the bar below, which is faced with hand-troweled stucco inlaid with Talavera tile of cobalt blue borders and blue, yellow, and white florals. The round, alfresco bar serves raw and prepared seafood specialties, such as oysters and whimsical crudos, that highlight the culinary diversity of Los Angeles. Flexible, flower-bedecked booths and wrought iron cocktail tables — topped in marble and intricately filigreed mosaics depicting the flora and fauna of Mexico — are nestled around the bar, allowing guests to group tables together or individually. The spectacular sunset views of the LA skyline provide a mesmerizing backdrop.
