Forest Glen / The Terraces

Enter the original forest themed art deco dining hall, inspired by the Brookdale Lodge in Santa Cruz. Famed architect Welton Becket created this masterwork to transport guests to a romanticized version of a Redwood forest– complete with babbling brook and waterfall, great stone fireplace, soaring trees, and a Little Stone Chapel that served as the first inspiration for the castle at Disneyland (twenty years later!) Fitted with a dance floor, performance terraces and ledges, and a host of unbelievable details that offer opportunities for activations from buffets to tiered performances over its two floors, this is the ideal location for a grand entrance to wow your guests and set up your event’s story to be told. Depending upon configuration, it can hold up to 300. This space can also be combined with our historic Cafeteria for larger gatherings.

The Monarch

Named for the last wild Grizzly Bear to roam California, The Monarch pays homage to the state’s remarkable natural heritage. Representing the mythology of the West, The Monarch provides a fanciful forest lodge and grove of Coastal Redwoods in which to enjoy classic cocktails and jaw dropping performances. Its centerpiece, the majestic Redwood erected through its soaring three-story atrium, serves as a vertical stage for aerial performers and a backdrop for breathtaking happenings– from bands, DJs, and fashion shows, to weddings. It transforms The Monarch into the base of a magnificent natural amphitheater known as Cathedral Grove, capturing the romance and wonder of a cathedral of great trees. A truly versatile environment, this venue can be configured as a dance floor, casino, performance space, buffet space, and can house nearly anything you can imagine! It can hold up to 215 guests – and can be combined with the three stories of Cathedral Grove to hold over 700 guests for an unbelievable tiered experience.

Gothic Lounge

On Clifton’s third floor you will find our majestic Gothic Bar– the true birthplace of modern science fiction, where the likes of Ray Bradbury, Ray Harryhausen, and Forrest Ackerman met in the 1930’s to dream up utopian worlds and as of yet undiscovered scientific wonders. Now featuring a towering two-story High Gothic altar to fine spirits and creativity, this lounge exudes opulence, decadence, and a perfect view of the happenings above and below. The centerpiece of the Gothic Bar is The Bradbury, a 4.7 billion year-old meteorite, upon which we invite guests to toast their shared adventure. Guests can also sit in the Bradbury Booth-- one of several private dining spaces– that once held the original meetings of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Club where Bradbury once held court. Able to hold up to 170 guests seated or 360 when combined with our Ballroom, this venue provides the ideal location to create a breathtakingly original event.

Brookdale Ballroom

Our Brookdale Ballroom reignites the passion of LA’s classic eras of glamour and romance. The room from which radio broadcasts once originated in the 1930’s – banquets have been held for nearly a hundred years now – hosts dancing, dining, and an array of extraordinary entertainment. Ideally suited for weddings, seated dinners, buffets, and myriad other festivities, our Ballroom also features a stage and two of our most spectacular natural history style dioramas. With an extremely versatile floorplan, this chamber allows for banquet rounds, cabaret style seating, and can be built out for any occasion. This elegant chamber holds up to 190 or up to 360 when combined with the the Gothic Lounge.

Pacific Seas

Through our Art Deco Map Room you’ll discover our fabled Tiki Lounge– an homage to the spirit of the original Clifton’s Pacific Seas: a revival of the Clifton’s tradition of celebrating the Golden Age of Travel, first envisioned by Clifford Clinton in 1931, The intrigue of travel to far off places transports guests from the mundane worries of everyday life. Built around a 1930’s Chris Craft Mahogany boat, the Pacific Seas has been labeled “the most beautiful Tiki bar in the world” and is curated with authentic curiosities from every corner of the globe. Its stage, nestled amongst its many bamboo huts, beckons you with echoes of past eras of romance, beauty and wonder. Just remember Clifton’s Pacific Seas motto: You supply the party– we supply the Rum and mermaids! Now featuring award winning specialty cocktails and exceptional entertainment, this richly layered lounge holds up to 180 guests or 320 when combined with Tree Tops.

Tree Tops

Perched atop Clifton’s is a magical lounge where the sky is literally no longer the limit. From the top of Cathedral Grove, guests are provided the perfect vantage to watch a performance or enjoy an exclusive location all their own. Fitted with an exceptional Art Nouveau bar and two-story murals depicting Yosemite Valley and Muir Woods, this lounge provides elegance and grandeur within a visionary space. Fine sit-down meals and buffets are well suited for this dynamic lounge– as are photo booths, dessert stations, and other innovative activations.
