Del Mar pays homage to a vibrant culture of Spanish “coastal” cuisine and waterfront maritime culture. Del Mar embraces the history of the southwest harbor,where maritime activity has always mixed with culture: a working wharf since the 19th century where generations of fishmongers hawked seafood fresh off the schooners and smaller workboats; as well as the historic Capital Yacht Club, founded in 1892 and steeped in racing folklore.
